The ASNT NDT Level III program offers third-party certification for non-destructive testing (NDT) personnel whose specific roles require a deep understanding of the technical principles behind the non-destructive testing methods they perform, witness, monitor, or evaluate. This program is integral to ASNT training courses and establishes a framework for ASNT NDT Level III certification in NDT, in compliance with Recommended Practice No. SNT-TC-1A. Achieving certification through this program results in the issuance of an ASNT certificate and wallet card, confirming that the certificate holder has fulfilled the established guidelines for both the Basic and Method examinations as outlined in Recommended Practice No. SNT-TC-1A.
Candidates seeking ASNT NDT Level III certification must successfully pass both the NDT Basic and a method examination to obtain their ASNT NDT Level III certificate. Within a two (2) year period, a maximum of three (3) examinations in any method or the Basic examination is allowed, which includes ASNT training courses in non-destructive testing.
• If a candidate fails the initial basic or method examination, they must wait thirty (30) days from the date of failure before retaking the exam.
• A candidate who fails the basic or method examination for the second time is required to wait ninety (90) days from the date of their failure to retake the exam.
• If a candidate fails the basic or method examination for a third time, they must wait one (1) year from the date of failure, reapply as a new candidate, and remember that no individual can attempt the examination more than three (3) times within a two (2) year period to achieve their NDT certification.
Classroom-based training and virtual-based training are essential components of ASNT training courses, providing the necessary knowledge for NDT certification in non-destructive testing.
